(Washington – November 6, 2011) U.S. Representative Frank Guinta (R, NH-01) is helping New Hampshire’s military veterans find work and learn about support services that are available to them. He is hosting a special Veteran and Military Service Members Job Fair for veterans their families on Thursday, November 10, the day before Veterans Day. It will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Manchester Community College, located at 1066 Front Street.
Representatives from 40 employers will talk with fair participants about employment opportunities. Representatives from one dozen organizations will also be on hand to explain services that are available to the veterans community.
The event is part of Rep. Guinta’s ongoing “Getting Granite Staters Back to Work” jobs initiative. He hosted job fairs in Derry and Rochester last summer.
“New Hampshire has the nation’s 6th largest per capita veteran population,” Guinta explained. “Armed Services members sometimes have a difficult time making the transition from the military back to civilian life. Unemployment is greater among their ranks than it is for the general population. Our military veterans were there when our country needed them. This job fair will show them their fellow Granite Staters are there for them now.”
