AFPNH - Hearing to REDUCE taxes in NH Today!

Monday Update

Sorry for the short notice.  However, tomorrow, the NH House Ways and Means Committee will consider HB 156, a bill to reduce the Tobacco Tax by .10 per pack.

What:  Public Hearing to Reduce the Tobacco Tax

Where: Room 202, Legislative Office Building (LOB)

When:  TOMORROW, TUESDAY, February 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM

WHY: To Allow you to keep more of your money!!

Whether you are a smoker, a former smoker or like me a non-smoker, I urge you to contact members of the Ways and Means committee and encourage them to immediately pass this legislation. This is not about smoking. The tobacco tax has continued to increase over the past five years in order to allow state government to grow and spend your money. It’s time to send a clear message that you can spend your money more efficiently than the government can. Show up tomorrow or send an e-mail to HouseWaysandMeansCommittee@leg.state.nh.us.  Let our elected officials know that reducing taxes is the RIGHT move.

Repealing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative

On Thursday, February 10th at 10 AM, HB 519, the repeal of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), will have its first public hearing.

This legislation, if passed, will remove New Hampshire from participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (A regional Cap and Trade Program). Mounting evidence demonstrates that RGGI is a massive failure that is serving only to damage New Hampshire's economic competitiveness. Withdrawal can't come soon enough! New Hampshire residents have already spent $28.2 million in the last two years on this hidden government tax.

Join AFP-NH this Thursday at 10 AM to express your strong support for removing NH from this regional Cap and Tax program. The hearing will be held in Representative Hall.

Sincerely,

Corey R. Lewandowski
