NH DHHS Announces Trainings on the New Food Rules

Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Public Health Services, Food Protection Section is announcing the release of revisions to He-P 2300, the NH Rules for the Sanitary Production and Distribution of Food.

The revised rules incorporate the US Food and Drug Administration 2009 Food Code by reference. The 2009 FDA Food Code provides guidance on food safety, sanitation, and advice to the food service industry. The Code provides up-to-date information on how to best mitigate risk factors that contribute to food borne illness.

The Food Protection Section will be rolling out these new rules over the next 12 months. Food establishment personnel can learn about the new rules through free trainings that will be offered around the State. All establishments that have a food license from the State of New Hampshire are encouraged to send a representative to these trainings.

“It is important that rules about sanitation change to keep up with changing times,” said Dr. José Montero, Director of Public Health at DHHS. “These new rules are in response to new data on foodborne illnesses, how they are transmitted, and some better ways to prevent unintentionally making people ill.”
