Club for Growth says Newt Gingrich would "probably be a pro-growth President, but will sometimes be a major disappointment to fiscal conservatives."
Washington, DC - The Club for Growth today launched their Presidential White Paper series by releasing an analysis of former House Speaker and Republican Candidate Newt Gingrich’s record on economic freedom.

"No candidate for President this year has a record as extensive as Speaker Gingrich,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “He fought the 1990 Bush tax increase, led the Republican Revolution in 1994, and has consistently supported pro-growth tax reform, free trade and entitlement reforms that America needs.
However, Speaker Gingrich’s has done some things that will give pro-growth conservatives pause. He supported the massive 2003 Medicare drug entitlement and the 2008 Wall Street bailout. Just yesterday, Speaker Gingrich doubled-down on his support for an individual mandate for health insurance on Meet The Press. By reading the Club for Growth’s Presidential White Paper on Speaker Gingrich, we believe that Club members and the public will conclude that Speaker Gingrich would probably be a pro-growth President, but will sometimes be a major disappointment to fiscal conservatives."
