Concert Series Continues with Charismatic Folk Icon
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - As part of the Prescott Park Arts Festival's 37th season, a folk icon who must be seen to be appreciated, Cheryl Wheeler, will perform in Prescott Park as part of the River House Concert Series on Wednesday, July 6, at 7pm.
"Cheryl is a wildly entertaining performer," says Prescott Park Arts Festival executive director, Ben Anderson. "Every time she visits us, she's a crowd favorite."
Wheeler is known for her gifted songwriting, beautiful voice, and entertaining stage presence. She is a natural storyteller with a sense of humor that will have you rolling with laughter.
Even if you are not already familiar with Cheryl, you've probably already heard her music. Mixing keen insight with humor and pathos, Cheryl's songs have been covered by artists like Peter, Paul and Mary; Suzy Bogguss; Kenny Loggins; and more.
"Be prepared to have a memorable night," continues Anderson. "Anyone interested in fun folk music performed before the backdrop of a beautiful setting is definitely encouraged not to miss this."
Held each Wednesday night in Prescott Park, the concert series has experienced record attendance this summer, featuring a wide array of International and Grammy Award winning artists. This year, the concert series will feature acts like Shawn Colvin, Taj Mahal Trio, Arlo Guthrie, Greg Brown, and Jonathan Edwards.
The River House Restaurant Concert Series is part of the Prescott Park Arts Festival's 37th season, which also features the musical The Wizard of Oz, running every Thursday through Sunday until August 21, 2011.
"Without a doubt, the River House Restaurant Concert Series has hit new levels this year in terms of the caliber of artists we're presenting," says Anderson. "It's more than exciting, and the buzz around town has been exceptional."
All events offered at the Prescott Park Arts Festival are presented free of charge with a suggested donation of $5 - $8.
