(Washington – June 2, 2011) Rep. Frank Guinta (NH-01) released the following statement on the passing of former Governor Walter Peterson:
“Governor Peterson’s life was spent in service to the state he loved. From his military service in the Pacific during World War II to his days in the State House, he always found ways to serve his fellow Granite Staters. As Governor, he was deeply involved forty years ago with many of the same fiscal issues we’re dealing with today. For example, he helped reorganize state government to make it operate more effectively and at less cost to taxpayers. Even after leaving the Governor’s Mansion, Walter Peterson’s tradition of service continued; he spent the next 20 years as president of Franklin Pierce College.
“I join my fellow Granite Staters in mourning the loss of this son of New Hampshire, and in celebrating the many accomplishments he achieved during his long, productive life.”
