Plymouth, MI - This afternoon, U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter (MI) welcomed presidential candidate Mitt Romney back to Michigan with the following greeting: "Motor City Hospitality dictates a Michigan message to Mitt that our struggling families, entrepreneurs and workers think Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama are not rivals, they're running mates," said McCotter.
McCotter was joined by community leaders in a discussion about renewed prosperity for Michigan working families and economic growth amid the job-crushing, big government policies foisted by President Barack Obama. Participants included Wes Smith, President/Owner of E & E Manufacturing (Plymouth), and orthopedic surgeon Dr. David H. Janda, M.D. (Ann Arbor).
“In the area of cap and trade, the President and Mr. Romney both believe in climate change. In the area of health care, both the President and Mr. [Romney] believe in comparative effectiveness research and government controlling the supply of health care. What you see in the area of the Wall Street Bailout, both Mr. Romney and President Obama believe that the bondholders and shareholders on Wall Street should be held harmless, with no restructuring, no downsizing, no management changes, no equity, and no preparation for future to get capital flowing back again.
“In fact the people who are struggling to get this economy going, between the issues and the principles of the policies, will see that President Obama and Mr. Romney are less rivals than running mates.”
-U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter
“I find it incredulous that someone who is campaigning for the top job of this country can come to this district who did not support the help that the auto companies received in 2008 and 2009.”
-Wes Smith, President/Owner of E & E Manufacturing
“One of the very few people who listen to us on the front line – us grunts on the front line of health care, whether we are patients, doctors, nurses, or therapists -- has been Congressman McCotter. For years he has asked me, whenever a health care proposal comes up, whether it’s Obamacare or Romneycare is, “How does this play on the front line? People like Thad? There should be a billion of them; there is one of them.” -Dr. David H. Janda, M.D.
