Potential 2012 candidate addresses Declaration event  U.S. Representative Thaddeus McCotter visited Ottumwa Monday for the Wapello County Republican’s annual reading of the Declaration of Independence.  McCotter is a potential Republican presidential candidate from the 11th district of Michigan. He is in his fifth term in Congress and a potential candidate in the 2012 election, although he has not yet confirmed.

Possible presidential candidate makes Quincy stop  A potential Republican presidential candidate made a stop in Quincy to help rally the party faithful and raise money for the Adams County Republican party. Representative Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan’s 11th Congressional District near Detroit spoke at the Adams County Republican Lincoln-Reagan dinner at the Holiday Inn. McCotter spoke to the crowd of nearly 200 people about the challenges facing the country and how to fix those problems while also taking questions from the audience.

Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., has visited both the early primary states of both Iowa and New Hampshire, gauging the reception by conservative voters.  "The people that I've run into, they're not ... they don't mind the field (of candidates), but they're not particularly enthused about it. They're more than happy to see more candidates emerge if they do it relatively quickly. It gives them time to get a message out," McCotter said.

Michigan congressman says he’s “something new” for presidential race (audio)  During an interview with Radio Iowa, Thaddeus McCotter said Republicans don’t seem entirely satisfied with the field of candidates who are running.”Or are they looking for something that’s relatively new that they haven’t heard of before? So I think if you want to look at it in kind of an interesting way, you could be very thankful that you’re not a particularly well-known quantity at this point in time because the ones they do know they don’t particularly have an ardor for at this point in time,” McCotter said. “And again, I’m not saying if I get in they’ll love me either, but if you don’t ask, you’ll never know. At least that was the approach I took with my wife when we were dating.”
