Prescott Park presents SHAWN COLVIN

Singer-Songwriter Shawn Colvin to Perform In Prescott Park

Concert Series Welcomes Three Time Grammy Award Winner

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - As part of the Prescott Park Arts Festival 37th season, celebrated singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin will perform in Prescott Park as part of the River House Concert Series on Wednesday, July 13, at 7pm.  Colvin's most recent album, Shawn Colvin Live, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album.

"Shawn Colvin stands out among female singer-songwriters as an enduring talent. She has one of those stunning, beautiful voices that lingers with you," said Prescott Park Arts Festival executive director Ben Anderson.

Since releasing her debut album 19 years ago, Colvin has won three Grammy awards and released eight albums, appeared on television and radio programs, and has had songs featured in major motion pictures, in addition to maintaining a national and international touring schedule.

Colvin's songs evoke a storyteller's warm and rich touch, her voice lending tenderness and empathy to even the toughest tales, such as the murder-ballad, "Sunny Came Home", which gave Colvin a Top 10 hit, as well as two Grammys.

"We sold out of our table seating weeks ago. Folks are definitely excited," says Anderson. "Her musical style is perfect for the idyllic setting of the park, and this concert promises to be one of the most breathtaking evenings of music this summer."

Colvin's newest release, Shawn Colvin Live, was recorded during a special three-night solo engagement at San Francisco's famous jazz club, Yoshi's, and includes 12 songs written or co-written by Colvin, as well as covers of songs by Robbie Robertson, Gnarls Barkley, and the Talking Heads.

Held each Wednesday night in Prescott Park, the concert series has experienced record attendance this summer, featuring a wide array of International and Grammy Award winning artists. The concert series will feature acts like Taj Mahal Trio, Arlo Guthrie, Greg Brown, and Jonathan Edwards this year.

The River House Restaurant Concert Series is part of the Prescott Park Arts Festival's 37th season that also features the musical The Wizard of Oz, running every Thursday through Sunday until August 21, 2011.
