Concord, NH-After learning that Congressman McCotter will attend the Lobster Bake and Straw Poll, New Hampshire Young Republican (NHYR) Chairman David Hurst issued the following statement:
“I am excited to welcome U.S. Representative Thaddeus McCotter to the 3rd Annual NHYR Lobster Bake and Straw Poll. Rep. McCotter already has a following among young conservatives as the first member of Congress to oppose the Paulson Bailout Plan. He has a brilliant understanding of the issues and the ability to passionately articulate how they shape the future of our country. His participation with the NHYR shows his continued commitment to winning over the next generation of Americans.”
Congressman McCotter issued a statement directly to the NHYR members:
"The New Hampshire Young Republicans are the next generation of conservative leadership – now. Honoring the GOP legacy of Lincoln and Reagan, the NHYR embrace the challenges we face. You will restructure Big Government and the Bailout Banks to build an America that works. You will defeat our terrorist enemies and strategic rivals to defend our security. You will promote and defend our cherished institutions of faith, family, community and country to promote a culture of life. And, in this benighted time of 'too big to fail,' you will advance liberty and self-government to ensure no American wonders if they are too small to matter. This is why I am so grateful for the opportunity to be with you in New Castle, New Hampshire: because, despite the challenges young people face finding rewarding careers in this stagnant economy, you are the heart and soul, flesh and blood future of our blessed free republic.”
The Lobster Bake and Straw Poll will be held in New Castle on Saturday, August 20. Tickets are $35 for Young Republicans and $50 for Republicans over 40. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit us on Facebook.
