(Berlin, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn awarded a medal to a Corrections Officer assigned to the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin during a July 20, 2011 ceremony.
Corrections Officer Howard Kelley received the Department’s Honorable Service medal for providing first aid to a woman who had collapsed in her driveway on December 30, 2010. The victim did not appear to be breathing at the time.
The Honorable Service medal is awarded is awarded to a Corrections employee for a highly creditable accomplishment that brings acclaim to one self and the Department or Corrections profession as a result of their devotion to duty or service to the public.
Commissioner Wrenn said, “Officer Kelley used the skills he had obtained as a Corrections employee and remained calm and professional to help prevent the victim from being seriously hurt. This is our way of recognizing him for this extraordinary achievement.”
