US Rep Bass to Make Stops in Sunapee, Newport, Claremont, Cornish, and Walpole

Wednesday, August 10, 2011, starting at 9 a.m.

SUNAPEE, NH – On Wednesday, August 10, 2011, starting at 9 a.m., Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) will meet with local officials in Sunapee, speak to seniors in Newport, tour two businesses in Newport and Claremont, visit Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, and tour the future site of the Great River Co-op development in Walpole.

Throughout the month of August, Bass will be meeting with business owner and employees, local officials, and constituents about how Congress can make it easier for the private sector to grow and create jobs.  The week of August 8-12th, Bass will meet with local officials across the District and tour a number of high-tech and manufacturing companies.

Members of the media are invited to attend the following events on August 10th:

9 a.m.: Meet with Sunapee Board of Selectmen at the Town Offices, located at 23 Edgemont Road in Sunapee.

10 a.m.: Meet with the Lake Sunapee Protection Association at the Town Offices, located at 23 Edgemont Road in Sunapee.

10:30 a.m.: Meet with local energy committees from surrounding towns to discuss energy and conservation issues.  The meeting will take place at the Sunapee Town Offices, located at 23 Edgemont Road in Sunapee.

11:45 a.m.: Meet with seniors at Community Alliance of Human Services senior independent living facility (Maple Manor), located at 44 Maple Street in Newport.

1:00 p.m.: Visit New England Outdoor Furnaces, a distributor of outdoor pellet furnaces.  New England Outdoor Furnaces is located at 877 John Stark Highway in Newport. 

1:45 p.m.: Tour Structal-Bridges, a leading manufacturer of steel bridges, structural bearings, and expansion joints for the highway, railway, and forestry industries.  Structal-Bridges is located at 386 River Road in Claremont.

3 p.m.: Visit Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, which showcases the home, studios, and gardens of one of America’s greatest sculptors, Augustus Saint-Gaudens.  Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site is located at 139 Saint-Gaudens Road in Cornish.

5 p.m.: Meet and then tour the site of the future Great River Co-op development with Board Members Steve Fortier, Robert Kasper, Ben Daviss and Melony Ward.  Currently, the Great River Co-op has over 350 members and is working to create a community marketplace as part of a planned, mixed use development on Route 12 in Walpole.  The meeting will take place at 54 Main Street in Walpole.
