CONCORD- The New Hampshire Republican Party is pleased to announce that Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell will headline the annual NHGOP fundraiser to be held in Concord, NH on September 26th.  This will be McDonnell’s first trip to New Hampshire as Governor.  In addition to serving as Governor, McDonnell is also Vice Chair of the powerful Republican Governor’s Association and a former U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. A recent Washington Post poll gave the Governor a 62% approval rating in the Commonwealth, one of the highest approval ratings of any Governor in the country.

“Governor McDonnell has exercised the leadership required in these tough times to balance budgets, control spending and create a surplus for his state’s long term economic viability …the kind of leadership that is lacking in the White House and in our state’s corner office,” stated NHGOP Chairman Jack Kimball.

Governor McDonnell spoke about the event, noting “New Hampshire is a great state, where Republicans historically have done very well. Republicans currently control the House, Senate, and Executive Council, along with three of four congressional seats. But there is much more work to be done, and that work starts with electing a Republican Governor in 2012.  I’m pleased to help the NHGOP with their fundraising efforts and I look forward to this opportunity to talk about the common sense solutions our Party is putting forward to help the private sector create new jobs and get our people back to work and our economy back on track.”

“Bob McDonnell is Governor of one of the few states in the country operating with a surplus and we are excited to have him here in New Hampshire,” said Bill Binnie, Finance Chair of the New Hampshire Republican Party.  “As Vice Chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association he brings a national stature to our premiere fundraising event, his appearance has already generated brisk ticket sales,” continued Binnie.
