Concord - Today's editorial from the conservative Foster's Daily Democrat called on special election candidate Honey Puterbaugh and the Republican state committee to be honest with voters about her ties to the Free State Project. The national organization claimed credit for many of the reckless and irresponsible bills passed in Concord this year.

In the race to fill the Strafford District 3 House seat vacated by Marty Harty, Republican Honey Puterbaugh has been criticized for being a Free Stater. The sensitivity to Free State Project is found in the group's stated goal of moving upward of 20,000 members to New Hampshire and, some argue, take over state government.
In Puterbaugh's race against Democrat Bob Perry, Foster's believes there has been a concerted effort on the part of the candidate and the state Republican Party to avoid an open and full discussion of the issue.
Politics being what it is, this has brought calls of a cover-up. Puterbaugh and the GOP owe the voters of District 3 an explanation and the opportunity to weigh the import of the Free State Movement on their vote this coming Tuesday, Aug. 9.
