Lift-Off: Farewell to the Memorial Bridge Celebration

Fireworks, Food, Music, Outdoor Movie, Beer, Games, FUN!

We don't know a single person in the Seacoast who doesn't share a fondness for our beautiful, well-worn bridge.

Because of that, we're proud to offer a celebration in honor of the Memorial Bridge on Saturday, October 1, as part of a special collaboration with Seacoast Local, 3S Artspace, Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce and Two International Group, LLC.

This street-party atmosphere event will start at 2pm, and feature live music, delicious food, games, activities, boat rides, art exhibits, beer, and FIREWORKS!

And, immediately after the fireworks (launched from the base of the bridge at 7:30pm), we'll show an outdoor movie!

Enjoy Finding Nemo on our big screen in the park (a fun and perfect match given it is a story of water, travel, and lost connections regained, right!).

Gov. John Lynch will be joined by state and local officials from Maine in a unique "tying-off" ceremony planned for 4pm, similiar to the ribbon-cutting ceremony that opened the bridge in 1923.

At age 5, Mayor Eileen Foley cut the first silk ribbon to open the bridge and will be on hand to assist public officials with the ribbon ceremony once again.

The Bridge celebration will take place in Prescott Park, as well as include a beer/wine reception at One Harbour Place wharf starting at 4:30pm, that will include whole steamed lobster and fresh shucked oysters. The two areas will be connected with a walkway along Scott Avenue, open only to pedestrians that day.

So much to do, and so much to celebrate.
