AFPNH - New Year, New Fights for Economic Freedom

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas and New Years with family and friends.

With the presidential primary a week from today and the start of the legislative session in Concord tomorrow, AFP-NH is prepared for another very active year.

First, we will bring the fight for economic freedom to Concord with an aggressive advocacy plan.

The issues we plan to follow this session include: healthcare reform, pension reform, reforming the Bureau of Tax and Land Appeals, RGGI Repeal, Right-To-Work and the Supermajority Legislation with regard to tax increases in the state. We will also be following pieces of legislation that could reduce taxes on businesses like HB 593, which would allow for the expansion of gaming in New Hampshire.  These issues will form the basis of our 2012 Legislative Score Card.

Tomorrow we will kick things off by hosting a breakfast for state legislators to provide them with information on HB 1560, regarding Healthcare Compacts.

We are pleased to begin the year with a discussion on this important piece of legislation and proud to announce that Charlie Arlinghaus, President of the Josiah Bartlett Center for Public Policy will make a presentation during the breakfast on the merits of the healthcare compact.

We look forward to the discussion and debate of this issue and many others during this session. For more information on the healthcare compact, please click here.

Second, as the new year and new session commence, we want to welcome Wendy Warcholik, the new Executive Director of Cornerstone. We look forward to continuing our work with Cornerstone and the state’s many other conservative organizations in the months ahead to advance the cause of liberty in New Hampshire.

Finally, I look forward to seeing many of you at events around the state this year and would welcome the opportunity to speak at one of your group’s upcoming meetings. Please reach out to Joy King, who will be happy to schedule any request.

Thank you for all of your previous support. I look forward to working with you again this year and could not advance our goals of lower taxes, smaller government and less regulation without your help!
