Guinta For Congress - Guinta wins WBIN-TV debate against Shea-Porter

(Manchester – October 9, 2012) From tax policy and job creation to taking care of our military veterans and addressing the issue of healthcare, Frank Guinta strongly outperformed his opponent former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter in this evening’s WBIN-TV debate. He outpaced her on the development of a national energy policy and foreign policy specifically with regards to the current situation in the Middle East.

A highlight from this evening’s debate was specifically on veterans issues.

Shea-Porter has been airing a negative and untrue attack for weeks referencing procedural gimmicks in H.R. 2055, which actually increased funding by $7.9 billion for veterans programs. This bill was passed 411-5 in the House (no Democrat voted against it) and it went on to pass the Senate and was signed into law by President Obama. Her ad was so untrue that the Nashua Telegraph’s Politifact actually said the ad was mostly false and that “Carol Shea-Porter distorts Frank Guinta’s voting record.”

To the astonishment of Granite Staters this evening, when asked if she would have been the only Democrat to vote “no” on this legislation, Carol Shea-Porter actually admitted that she “would have voted” for H.R. 2055. This is the same legislation she has been attacking Frank Guinta for voting for.

Derek Dufresne, Spokesman for Guinta for Congress released the following statement:

“Frank Guinta strongly outperformed former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter on virtually every issue this evening. His focus on jobs, the economy, and what he would do in a second term to help put more Granite Staters back to work came through loud and clear.

“It was truly remarkable that after weeks of airing a negative and untrue attack ad on veterans issues against Frank Guinta, Carol Shea-Porter actually admitted that she would have voted for the same legislation she has been attacking Frank on. The real question now is what won’t Carol Shea-Porter say to get reelected?”
