Manchester, NH - Clean water is something most of us take for granted. Sen. Hassan? Well, her vote to double the administrative fee on the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund is “Maggie’s Tax of the Day” for October 16, 2012.
The Department of Environmental Services administers the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, which provides assistance in the form of low interest loans to community and nonprofit water systems to finance the cost of drinking water infrastructure. Under Sen. Hassan’s leadership, those loans became a bit more expensive when she voted to double the administrative fee in order to help “balance” the 2009 budget. Of course, these costs pass directly to taxpayers and donors in communities and nonprofits across the state.
