GUINTA CAMPAIGN ISSUES A CEASE AND DESIST LETTER TO STATIONS AIRING DCCC’S NEW TV AD

“This is the third ad where Carol Shea-Porter and her ‘team’ have deliberately tried to misguide voters about Frank Guinta’s record. It’s not surprising Carol Shea-Porter has developed a habit of running a Washington-style campaign, but Granite Staters deserve better.”

(Manchester – October 16, 2012) Friends of Frank Guinta issued a cease and desist letter to stations that are airing the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (“the DCCC”)’s TV advertisement against Congressman Frank Guinta titled “Regular Person.”

Without a doubt, “Regular Person” contains false information deliberately invented to mislead New Hampshire voters and defame Congressman Guinta’s reputation. Specifically, the ad makes the false claim that Congressman Guinta “voted to make you pay over $1,000 a year more in taxes,” citing an article from ABC News. Simply put, this claim is an absurd misrepresentation made by a report written by Democratic staffers with no grounding in fact. The $1,400 number they quote multiple times throughout the ad is not delivered from any credible source whatsoever. Rather than citing the original source, the DCCC, in the ad, attempts to hide their statistic’s complete lack of credibility by citing an ABC News article mentioned the numbers instead. You can read a copy of the full letter here: http://teamguinta.com/sites/default/files/WMURTVLetter.pdf

Friends of Frank Guinta has respectfully demanded that those stations airing the ad immediately stop airing it.

This is the third such ad that either lies or distorts the record of Congressman Guinta from Carol Shea-Porter and her “team” as her campaign manager recently called the DCCC. Nashua Telegraph’s Politifact called Shea-Porter’s first ad where she lies about Frank Guinta’s record on veterans’ issues “a distortion” of his record. In Shea-Porter’s second ad, her claim that Frank Guinta would “end Medicare” was called the “lie of the year” by Factcheck.org.

Derek Dufresne, Spokesman for Guinta for Congress released the following statement:

“Former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter has run an incredibly negative campaign that has been riddled with distortions and lies.

“Once is a fluke, twice is a trend, but three times is a habit. This is the third ad where Carol Shea-Porter and her ‘team’ have deliberately tried to misguide voters about Frank Guinta’s record. It’s not surprising Carol Shea-Porter has developed a habit of running a Washington-style campaign, but Granite Staters deserve better.”
