Manchester, NH – It is often said there is no such thing as a temporary tax. Sen. Hassan’s vote to repeal the repeal of the insurance premium tax is a great example, and is “Maggie’s Tax of the Day” for October 23, 2012.
Businesses in New Hampshire were set to see a reduction of their insurance premium tax from 1.25% of net premiums down to a flat 1% on January 1, 2012. Unfortunately, as a part of the Special Session budget in 2010, the one needed to fix Sen. Hassan’s disastrous first budget attempt in 2009, Sen. Hassan voted to repeal that reduction and businesses continue to pay the increased rate.
As a State Senator, Maggie Hassan voted to repeal a reduction in the insurance premium tax. Hassan voted YEA on SSHB1, 6/9/2010.
