New Hampshire- AP reports today that Governor Lynch said, “state officials anticipate they may require federal assistance for search and rescue efforts, hazardous materials response, emergency power generation, and other areas.” The President granted the request this afternoon.
Carol Shea-Porter released the following statement.
“Having spent a month working as a Red Cross volunteer during Hurricane Katrina, I fully support Governor Lynch's request for federal aid. This latest disaster points out once again how we rely on each other in the United States of America, and how important it is for federal, state, and local governments to be properly funded and able to work together with private industry and individuals. In our best tradition, Americans are pitching in across the country to help, and we will rebuild everywhere. My prayers are with all those affected.”
