Manchester, NH – Yesterday in recognition of Columbus Day we highlighted Sen. Hassan’s votes to double boat registration fees. Today, her vote to increase captain’s licenses is “Maggie’s Tax of the Day” for October 9, 2012.
Not content to simply increase the costs of getting a boat on the water, Sen. Hassan believed the state needed to make it more than two times more expensive to get permission from the state to captain it. Her budgets, which would not have floated without over 99 taxes and fee increases, increased licensing fees for vessel captains, masters, pilots, and engineers by 275%.
Background: As a State Senator:
Maggie Hassan SUPPORTED increasing vessel licensing fees. Hassan voted YEA on adopting the Committee of Conference Report (2333CofC) for the bill. 6/24/2009. Vote #104, HB2.
