Governor-Elect Hassan Announces First Transition Plans

CONCORD – Governor-Elect Maggie Hassan today announced next steps for the Gubernatorial Transition, including naming Pamela Walsh as the Transition Director. Walsh will manage Hassan’s efforts to reach out across the state to hear from New Hampshire residents about their ideas for moving the state forward.

Governor-Elect Hassan also said that an official transition office is scheduled to open next week, and that she plans to move forward with building her transition team and steering committee as quickly as possible.

“My focus is on reaching out to Democrats, Independents and Republicans across New Hampshire to bring people together to move New Hampshire forward,” Governor-Elect Hassan said. “Few understand how New Hampshire’s government can best serve its citizens as well as Pamela Walsh. I am pleased to have her support and the help of so many people across the state in my efforts to help build a stronger, more innovative New Hampshire where our businesses can grow, flourish and create good jobs for our people.”

As Governor, Hassan will work with members of both parties to develop a fiscally responsible balanced budget that protects New Hampshire’s priorities without an income or sales tax. She will work to implement her “Innovate NH” jobs plan, which focuses on building the best workforce in the country, providing tax credits to businesses, and giving businesses technical assistance to help them create jobs. And Hassan will reach out to legislators and citizens across the states to listen to their ideas for how to keep New Hampshire moving forward.

“I am honored that Governor-Elect Hassan has entrusted me with the responsibility of helping implement her vision for keeping New Hampshire moving forward,” said Walsh. “I know her commitment to bringing people together to solve problems will serve our state well, and I look forward to being a part of that process.”

Walsh, of Concord, served as deputy chief of staff for Governor John Lynch and as press secretary for Governor Jeanne Shaheen.

The transition office, located at 33 Hazen Drive Room 210, Concord, will open on Wednesday, November 14. Additional transition details and team members will be announced in coming days.
