Online town hall will inform voters on how to select a third choice this November
WASHINGTON, D.C., FEBRUARY 9, 2012 – Americans Elect is celebrating former Pres. Abraham Lincoln's birthday this year with a nationwide drafting day to empower voters who want to pick a president, not a party by participating in the first national online primary. The nominee who emerges will appear on general election ballots in all 50 states this November.
The recent announcement of the candidate drafting page at AmericansElect.org signals to the American voters that there’s a solution to their dissatisfaction with the current political process, which is dominated by the two-party system. Every registered voter can sign up to become a delegate at AmericansElect.org and participate in drafting or supporting a candidate they believe will address the problems facing our country today – candidates untethered from the two-party duopoly, special interests and political alienation the voters have rejected.
To participate in the national drafting day event please join us online at 6 p.m. EST Sunday, Feb.12, for a live town hall meeting hosted by Brian Findlay, Policy Director at Americans Elect, who will describe how the candidate process works and answer any questions voters may have at www.ustream.tv/channel/americans-elect.
Those interested can submit questions for the Town Hall by email at threewayrace@AmericansElect.org and via Twitter using the hashtag “3WayRace” (#3wayrace). In the spirit of inclusion and participation in the process, Americans Elect volunteer delegates across the country will be hosting Meetups and events in their communities on Sunday to encourage all registered voters to sign up to be delegates and nominate and begin gathering support for a presidential candidate who they believe will foster the leadership we need in this country today.
