Two American Originals, Carbon Leaf & Adam Ezra, come to the Flying Monkey on Friday, Feb. 17th.
Plymouth, NH. At 7:30pm on Friday, February 17th The Flying Monkey is excited to have two original, eclectic American artists under their roof at one time, Carbon Leaf and Adam Ezra. Known for an eclectic and infectious blend of Folk-Rock, Americana, Celtic, Bluegrass, & Pop on Rock, the Boston Globe describes Carbon Leaf as “subtle R.E.M.-flavored pop meets Outlaws-like rock/bluegrass.” Adam Ezra, known for a dynamic acoustic roots/rock sound combining smart well-written lyrics and powerful musicianship, will open the night. Tickets for this concert start at $18.
Since their inception, the members of Carbon Leaf have shared a common vision: transforming their urgent and unapologetically artistic musings into song. Some call Carbon Leaf's music Southern, others label it Celtic and still others say it leans toward bluegrass or some combination of formats. No matter what your take on the band's sound, almost everyone can agree that Carbon Leaf creates music that just isn't heard anywhere else. Carbon Leaf has 20 years of award-winning recording and touring under their belt, and along the way they scored hit singles with “Life Less Ordinary” and “The Boxer”. The band enters 2012 with more creative designs to independently produce a steady stream of new music.
"Right now we're trying to get some studio time down," said vocalist Barry Privett. "It's still pretty early to tell [what the sound on the new album will be], but we'll lay it down and see what direction we go in. Some of it will depend on the collective mood of the band."
The Adam Ezra Group is a dynamic roots/rock band whose unique diversity of folk, pop and acoustic rock, perfectly combines Ezra’s passion for smart well written lyrics and the bands amazing musicianship. "They [Adam Ezra] are one of the few bands out right now whose music is deep and real," says Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root. Bringing their sound together with full, rich, complex, and hook laden melodies, the band ignites the stage with a power that has been compared to that of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
This will be a rare evening to see both these American Bands in their prime.
