In a race to avoid a controversial battle, the House approved the payroll tax holiday and unemployment benefits extensions — adding $100 billion to the debt this year, and guaranteeing another vote on the most controversial issue of all, the debt ceiling.
Common sense seems to be lost. President Obama says he wants to keep jobs in the U.S. and seconds later threatens new taxes on employers. Plus, a new tax deal adds more to our debt and deficit.
The Obama economic team promised that if the "stimulus" was passed, by now the unemployment rate would be 6 percent. Whoops.
