Congressman Charles Bass Announces Support of Ovide Lamontagne

Concord, N.H. - Congressman Charlie Bass (R-NH-02) today announced the support of New Hampshire Republican gubernatorial candidate and respected conservative leader Ovide Lamontagne.

"Ovide has a strong record of commitment to New Hampshire's conservative community and I am honored to have his support," said Bass.  "We are both committed to fiscally conservative principles like cutting spending, reducing debt and deficits, lowering tax burdens on working families, and finding real solutions to the many challenges facing our nation and state.  As such, I am also proud to stand with Ovide today and announce my support for his candidacy to become the next Governor of New Hampshire."

Announcing his support, Ovide Lamontagne said, "I welcome the opportunity to support Charlie for re-election to New Hampshire's Second District today.  Charlie is the candidate that will ensure fiscally conservative values are brought to Washington and New Hampshire continues to be well-served by his thoughtful, independent leadership.  I am also proud that he would offer his support of my campaign and look forward to working with him during this election season and in the future serving New Hampshire."

Ovide Lamontagne is an attorney at Devine, Millimet & Branch. During his legal career, Ovide served as a law clerk to the Honorable James E. Barrett of the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and legal counsel for the New Hampshire State Senate during the 1991 Legislative Session.  From 2002 through 2006 Ovide served as President of the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award in 2006. He is a member of Club Richelieu Manchester, and is also a past Director of the Easter Seal Society of New Hampshire, CASA of New Hampshire, Manchester Crimeline, Inc. and the Mayhew Program.

Charlie Bass has a long record of public service in New Hampshire. He was elected to represent the state’s 2nd Congressional District in November 2010.   He previously represented the District from 1995 to 2007 and championed a number of initiatives important to the people of New Hampshire, including expanding broadband access to rural communities, preserving New Hampshire's scenic environment, and promoting clean, alternative energies that will lessen our dependence on foreign sources of oil. In the 112th Congress, Bass serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
