Hillsborough County Treasurer, Robert “Bob” Burns of Bedford filed paperwork today to form a political action committee and announced plans to run for the District 4 Executive Council seat being vacated by Raymond J. Wieczorek. Confirming he would not seek reelection as County Treasurer Burns said, “Serving as County Treasurer has given me valuable experience and insight that will be an asset while serving as an Executive Councilor.”
Burns previously was a selectman in Manchester’s Ward 12. He is a Bedford business owner and lifelong New Hampshire resident. Bob Burns is running for Executive Council because, “It is imperative that we have strong fiscal conservatives on the Executive Council. I bring many different types of business experience to the table, having spent over 10 years in manufacturing industry. I look forward to running against Chris Pappas again this November.”
Burns also announced that State Representative Shaun Doherty has signed on to be his campaign manager and treasurer. He said, “I am honored to have someone with Shaun’s experience join my team; Shaun has a proven record of winning elections.”

Shaun Doherty Bio
Shaun Doherty is a lifelong resident of Pelham, serving his second term in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. While a student at Rivier College, Doherty was elected to the legislature in 2008 at age 20. He serves on the Election Law committee and sponsored numerous pieces of legislation, including bills to bring financial literacy education to every high school student in the state and a bill to honor a local fallen soldier. In the 2010 election, Doherty was the second leading vote-getter in the state legislature, only behind the Majority Leader. Doherty has had a lifelong interest in politics and government. In 2004, he was the youngest town chairman in the nation for President Bush's reelection campaign. For each election since 2004, Doherty served as a town chairman for Executive Councilor Ray Wieczorek's campaigns. Doherty served as a staffer on Frank Guinta's 2007 successful reelection campaign for Manchester Mayor. During the 2008 Presidential campaign, he was the Youth Chairman for John McCain. In 2010, Doherty earned a B.A. in Communications from Rivier College. He is currently the Southern Regional Vice Chair of the New Hampshire Young Republicans.
