As the United States Supreme Court continues hearing arguments today on ObamaCare, several media outlets, including the New York Times, are reporting on a handful of polls saying most Americans still oppose the health law. Also, in case you missed it, Senator Kelly Ayotte pens an op-ed in today’s Foster’s Daily Democrat, and a new GOP Research document is out highlighting President Obama’s broken promise when it comes to one of his key selling points on health reform: “If you like your [health] plan, keep your [health] plan.”
No matter how much time or money Democrats spend trying to re-brand ObamaCare, they will continue to run into roadblocks like this broken promise and a public frustrated by its tax hikes, massive price tag and negative impact on our economy.
SEN. AYOTTE OP-ED IN FOSTER’S: Federal Health Care Law is Affront to Freedom: “This week, the Supreme Court hears oral arguments on the constitutionality of the president’s health care law. In a state that cherishes its ‘Live Free or Die’ motto, it’s important to remember what this debate is ultimately about – freedom.” (Senator Kelly Ayotte, Foster’s Daily Democrat, 3/27/2012)
NEW YORK TIMES: Most Americans Oppose Health Law, Poll Finds: “Two-thirds of Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn some or all of the health care law, even though large majorities support a few of its major aspects, according to a poll by The New York Times and CBS News. . . . In the latest poll, 47 percent said they oppose the law while 36 percent approve, with the rest having no opinion. The results are similar to previous surveys that have consistently found the law’s detractors outnumbering its supporters.” (Dalia Sussman, Helene Cooper and Kate Phillips, New York Times, 3/26/2012)
NATIONAL JOURNAL: Public Still Opposes Health Care Mandate: “Americans remain overwhelmingly against requiring individuals to purchase health insurance, but they divide in half about the health care law that President Obama signed in 2010, according to the latest United Technologies/National Journal Congressional Connection Poll.” (Ronald Brownstein, National Journal, 3/27/2012)
