(WASHINGTON, DC) – Citing the critical need for more women governors, particularly in light of the relentless attempts to curb reproductive choices and options on a state level and the ongoing national contraception debate, WCF President/CEO Siobhan “Sam” Bennett proudly announced today the endorsement of Maggie Hassan for Governor of New Hampshire.
“Governors play a key role in protecting women and families from far-reaching, extremist attacks on women’s health,” said Bennett. “With two pro-choice governors retiring this year, Maggie’s election is all the more critical for WCF. If elected, she would be the only pro-choice female governor in the country. The stakes are too high to sit on the sidelines for this race.”
Hassan has an impressive background in New Hampshire as a State Senate Majority Leader, community activist, attorney, and mother of two children, including one with special needs. She served as the New Hampshire Senate Majority Leader for the first majority-female legislative body in American history.
“Maggie will be an amazing ally for women and families in New Hampshire,” continued Bennett. “Her grassroots campaign is working hard to send a clear message that she will stand up for all Granite Staters while bringing a much needed focus on the issues most important to them.”
“I’m honored to have earned the endorsement of the Women’s Campaign Fund,” said Hassan. “This election is so important for New Hampshire women and families. WCF’s support is critical to help me continue to build a strong and winning grassroots campaign across New Hampshire.”
The Women’s Campaign Fund is a national, non-partisan organization dedicated to dramatically increasing the number of women in elected office who support reproductive health choices for all.
