While Noble Street College Prep teachers are busy pursuing an educational mission, the Chicago Teachers Union is busy protesting in the streets. And for what? To protect a patronage system? To safeguard the union’s turf and influence? And to ensure bigger paychecks despite poor performance? If the Chicago Teachers Union would put as much effort into improving as they do into protesting, then perhaps Chicago wouldn’t be so burdened by violence, crime and the lack of upward economic mobility, all borne of bad schools.
