NHDP - Double-Talk from Ovide Lamontagne on Marriage

Ovide Trying to Mislead about His Tea Party Agenda

CONCORD - Ovide Lamontagne is engaging in double talk about his radical agenda, promising one thing to his Tea Party supporters and while claiming the opposite to most voters.

Asked about marriage equality by students at Central High School yesterday, Ovide Lamontagne said: "I am a social conservative, and I believe in traditional marriage, but I'm not running to deal with that issue."

But that is not what Lamontagne told a Tea Party rally in March. To that group,: "If Gov. Lynch prevents a return to traditional marriage, you can count on me to aggressively work to make this happen once I'm governor, " Lamontagne said at the State House.

"Ovide Lamontagne is engaging in double-speak in an attempt to mislead voters about his radical Tea Party agenda," said Raymond Buckley, chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. "The truth is Ovide Lamontagne has made clear that he is will work aggressively to overturn marriage equality, and that he is dedicated to an anti-choice and anti-equality agenda across the board. It is time for Ovide Lamontagne to be honest with the people of New Hampshire about his social agenda.

Ovide Lamontagne has pledged to overturn marriage equality. Lamontagne has even opposed including sexual orientation in the state's non-discrimination laws.
