"From the battlefields of Lexington and Concord to Afghanistan and Iraq, brave men and women have given their lives to keep us safe and free. On this Memorial Day weekend, let us pause to remember the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom and liberty. As the daughter of a World War II veteran, I know firsthand that our country has long been kept secure by the proud and selfless service of our citizen soldiers. That tradition continues today.
So on this Memorial Day, let us also thank and honor the brave men and women abroad and at home who are serving in our nation’s armed forces keep our country, state and communities safe. We should all work to support their families and pray for their safe return."
