U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta statement after touring fire-damaged submarine USS Miami at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

(Portsmouth, NH – June 12, 2012)    Rep. Frank Guinta (NH-01) released the following statement after touring the fire-damaged attack submarine USS Miami (SSN 755) at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard:

“When you see it up close, the extent of the damage caused by last month’s fire is significant.  I commend the valiant efforts of the USS Miami’s officers and crew, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard workers and the many federal and local firefighters who all labored hard and kept it from being worse.

“I’m awaiting the Judge Advocate General’s final report.  Meanwhile, I’m closely monitoring the situation.  I will continue supporting the thousands of workers employed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, so the important work that’s done here every day will carry on.”
