WASHINGTON – Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 8:30 a.m., Congressman Charles F. Bass (NH-02) will address members of the Alliance to Save Energy at their “Policy Perspectives Series” to discuss his Smart Energy Act (H.R. 4017), bipartisan legislation to help put the federal government and many businesses on a path to reduce energy use.
The Smart Energy Act focuses on the demand side of the energy debate by incorporating several reforms, such as leveraging private sector investment in public building projects, establishing a strategic plan to double the production of electricity through the use of combined heat and power and waste heat recovery, and directing agencies to better manage energy consumption through various savings techniques and programs.
Similar legislation was introduced by Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Rob Portman (R-OH) in the Senate. For a detailed description of the Smart Energy Act, please click here.
