NHDP - Lamontagne, Smith Debate Showcases Their Wrong Priorities for Middle-Class Families and NH Economy

CONCORD - Raymond Buckley, Chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, released the follow statement following the GOP debate this afternoon:

"The debate between Ovide Lamontagne and Kevin Smith today showcased how they have the wrong priorities for New Hampshire's middle-class families and the New Hampshire economy. Instead of following in the direction of Gov. John Lynch, Ovide Lamontagne and Kevin Smith have made clear they embrace the priorities of the current legislature, which has cut funding for higher education in half, tried to eliminate kindergarten, and focused on repealing marriage equality and eliminating insurance coverage for birth control. These priorities are hurting our state, leading to New Hampshire's economy dropping from 10th in the nation to 34th, along with drops in education, infrastructure and workforce.

"And both Ovide Lamontagne and Kevin Smith are offering expensive tax plans, but refusing to say what they will cut to pay for them: money for roads and bridges, the remaining money for our public colleges and universities? Ovide Lamontagne and Kevin Smith will move New Hampshire backward and hurt New Hampshire's middle-class families."
