CONCORD - Raymond Buckley, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, released the following statement on Mitt Romney choosing Congressman Paul Ryan as his presumptive nominee for Vice President:
"Mitt Romney has picked a leader of the House Republicans who shares his commitment to putting tax breaks for the wealthiest before middle-class families. The radical Ryan budget plan -supported by Charlie Bass and Frank Guinta - would end Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher system and adding thousands of dollars in health care costs to seniors, in order to pay for new tax cuts for the richest Americans.
The GOP's radical plans for Medicare don't stop at the federal level: both Ovide Lamontagne and Kevin Smith, who praised Ryan's selection as their Vice Presidential nominee this morning, promise to bring Ryan's agenda to New Hampshire, with a plan for the legislature to take over and run Medicare.
The Romney-Ryan ticket, like the Republican candidates for Governor in New Hampshire, would take us backward - not forward - by repeating the same, catastrophic mistakes of the past."
