CONCORD - As WMUR reported this afternoon that Frank Szabo, GOP candidate for Hillsborough County Sheriff, "wouldn't reject deadly force to stop abortions." All Republican candidates must forcefully and unequivocally denounce his dangerous and radical stance immediately, said Ray Buckley, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party.
"Frank Szabo's radical, dangerous assertion that he would not reject the use of deadly force against women seeking abortions and the doctors who provide those services is reprehensible and every Republican officeholder and candidate in New Hampshire must condemn and reject this man and his beliefs," said Buckley.
WMUR reported this afternoon that Szabo - a candidate for Sherriff with no law enforcement background - said he wouldn't rule out using deadly force to stop abortions. He previously said that he would arrest doctors who provided legal abortions.
Several GOP State Senate candidates, Phil Greazzo, Andy Sanborn and Joe Krasuki recently accepted the endorsement of the New Hampshire Republican Liberty Caucus, an organization which has endorsed Szabo's candidacy.
Republican leaders, including Ovide Lamontagne, Kevin Smith, Phil Greazzo, Andy Sanborn and Joe Krasuki should publicly reject the endorsement of the Republican Liberty Caucus and denounce its support for the dangerous and extreme campaign of Frank Szabo," said Buckley.
