Dear Monetary Policy Observer,
The Financial Times just published a piece on how the gold standard has returned to “mainstream” political thought for the first time since the 1980s in the form a plank included in the proposed GOP 2012 draft platform. The article goes over the efforts of monetary policy reform advocates to use a gold commission to highlight monetary reform, and the benefits of this process which are, observed Rep. Marcia Blackburn, the co-chair of the platform committee, “things that Republicans agree on.”
The article also features APP's chairman, Sean Fieler, who reflects on the implications of a new gold commission. Here is a link to CNBC’s reprint of the article: http://www.cnbc.com/id/48770752.
