RNC - Unemployment Up; Granite Staters Call for Help Strengthening Middle Class

Yesterday in Manchester, Seabrook, and across the country, small business owners and middle class Americans came together calling for a new president that can restore America as the best place in the world to find a job, start a business or hire a worker. President Obama’s policies clearly aren’t working for the middle class, with the new national jobs report out showing the national unemployment rate ticketing up to 8.3%, and with yesterday’s metropolitan report that showed unemployment rising in all three metro areas in New Hampshire in June.

Here is what Governor Romney had to say in a statement on this morning’s jobs report:

“Today's increase in the unemployment rate is a hammer blow to struggling middle-class families. Yesterday I launched my Plan for a Stronger Middle Class that will bring more jobs and more take home pay. My plan will turn things around and bring the economy roaring back, with twelve million new jobs created by the end of my first term. President Obama doesn’t have a plan and believes that the private sector is ‘doing fine.’ Obviously, that is not the case. We’ve now gone 42 consecutive months with the unemployment rate above eight percent. Middle class Americans deserve better, and I believe America can do better.” – Governor Mitt Romney

Business Owner and State Senator Russell Prescott in Seabrook yesterday:

“Instead of working to streamline regulation, eliminate onerous rules that stifle creativity, or provide a blueprint to allow our entrepreneurs to thrive, the president belittles their efforts. It’s about time we bring back a champion of small-business to the White House. It’s about time we elect Mitt Romney as president.”

Business Owner Jennifer Cheifetz in Manchester yesterday:

“The middle class is begging for jobs—23 million people in fact are looking for full time work—and it is shocking that the people who normally provide those jobs are being torn down by President Obama. I get frequent emails asking if I'm hiring staff for Gone Baking, my mobile bakery. I would love to be in a position to pay other people, but right now I'm just trying to cover the growing cost of running my own business.”
