Takes third consecutive straw poll victory
Dover, NH — Demonstrating the campaign’s continued momentum, Ovide Lamontagne, Republican candidate for Governor, took 90% of the vote at the Strafford County Republican Committee's straw poll held in Dover. Today's win was Lamontagne's third consecutive consecutive straw poll victory.
“I support Ovide because he is dedicated to service,” said County Commissioner Catherine Cheney of Dover, who attended the picnic and cast her ballot for Lamontagne. “He is a New Hampshire native with knowledge of how this state is run and I know he will wake up each morning dedicated to preserving New Hampshire values.”
Former state Senator George Lovejoy of Barrington echoed that sentiment, saying, “I voted for Ovide today and I plan to vote for him in September and November because he is a constant, consistent, conservative – we can count on him to do what’s right.”
“I am humbled by the support we received in Dover today,” said Lamontagne. “Strafford County is critical territory in both a Republican primary and a general election and I am thankful to all those across the county who support our campaign and will be working with us throughout the summer and fall to bring real leadership to Concord."
Mona Perreault, owner of EverGreen RV, a small business in Rochester, attended today’s picnic to support Lamontagne because, “he is taking the time to listen to the state’s business owners. I know when he is elected he will get to work fixing our state.”
Lamontagne previously won straw polls held in Hillsborough and in Hollis. There were 101 total votes cast in today’s poll, Ovide Lamontagne received 91, Kevin Smith 10.
