Lamontagne Said Ryan Plan to Cut Medicare is a Great Plan; Would Go Further and Let Legislature Run Medicare
CONCORD -- While Ovide Lamontagne may not have appeared with Paul Ryan today; he still stands side by side with Ryan's radical agenda and even has a proposal to take Ryan's Medicare voucher plan an extreme step further.
As a candidate for U.S. Senate, Ovide Lamontagne called Ryan's plan to turn Medicare into a voucher system "a great plan" and said, "I want to work with Paul Ryan."
Now as a candidate for Governor, Lamontagne wants to take Ryan's cuts to Medicare even further - and have the state takeover Medicare, so the legislature can run it.
"Ovide Lamontagne's plans to gut Medicare goes even further than Paul Ryan's. Ovide Lamontagne has said a state takeover of Medicare is one of his top priorities as Governor," said Raymond Buckley, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. "Under Ovide Lamontagne's scheme, the same legislature that has already slashed health care for seniors in nursing homes would take over and Medicare. It's a proposal New Hampshire can't afford."
The state Council on Aging came out against the plan, calling it "potentially destructive."
