Lamontagne For Governor - Maggie's Tax of the Day: #9

Manchester, NH - As the fall foliage season begins, particularly in the North Country, leaf peepers from around the nation visit New Hampshire to enjoy our beautiful scenery.  Should they choose to visit Berlin's Jericho State Park, however, it will cost them.  Senator Hassan's vote to require an entrance fee to Jericho State Park is "Maggie’s Tax of the Day" for September 25, 2012.

In 2010, as a part of a bill dealing with a number of park related items, Senator Hassan supported a provision giving the Commissioner of DRED the authority to “immediately begin to accept donations for the use and maintenance of Jericho Mountain state park.”  Not enough to satisfy her need to tax however, the bill goes on to require fees for entrance to Jericho beginning in 2011.

The voters of New Hampshire may have removed Sen. Hassan from office before this tax increase began to hit their wallet, but each time a visitor is asked for a mandatory donation upon visiting the park in Berlin it is another reminder of why Sen. Hassan cannot go back to Concord.
As a State Senator:
Maggie Hassan SUPPORTED imposing fees for the use of Jericho Mountain state park (OTP on SB313, 6/2/10).
