CONCORD – Today, the Bass for Congress campaign released a web video titled Better Future, featuring Congressman Charlie Bass (R-NH) and his vision for turning the economy around, putting people back to work and creating prosperity for New Hampshire.
“Washington Democrats and Ann Kuster have supported policies that aren’t working for New Hampshire. Their stimulus plans have wasted millions of dollars and failed to create real, private sector jobs in America. Now they look to spend their way out of the deficit through more stimulus funding and big government programs,” said Bass spokesman, Scott Tranchemontagne. “New Hampshire can’t afford more big-government-solves-all Democrats in Washington. We need real bipartisan solutions to our nation’s fiscal crisis. Charlie Bass is the only candidate offering a bipartisan approach to keep us from going over the fiscal cliff, and to create a better future for New Hampshire.”
Transcript (Charlie Bass):
“By any measure, the policies of my opponent and her party have failed. We’ve been in the longest recession since the great depression of the 1930s. Unemployment has been over 8% for that whole period of time and since their stimulus bill passed, it’s been over 9% for part of that time. We’ve had a net loss in this nation of 780,000 jobs, gas prices are almost 2 dollars a gallon higher than they were four years ago and the nation’s deficit has gone up by over 5 trillion dollars. This is not the policy that our nation should move forward with. Don’t you think it’s time to try a different approach to turning this economy around, to putting people back to work in real jobs, to keeping the cost of energy down, to keeping our nation safe and strong, to get this deficit under control, to be courageous enough to attack the biggest issues, preserving and protecting social security and Medicare for future generations. I think the time has come for not more of the same for the next four years, but working together to try to come up with solutions that don’t benefit republicans or democrats, but benefit the people of the second congressional district and our nation as a whole.”
