Congresswoman Shea-Porter Takes Action to Defend Women and Families

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Shea-Porter announced she is an original co-sponsor of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA Reauthorization).  The VAWA Reauthorization is a critical update to federal law on domestic violence and sexual assault and it is supported by law enforcement, religious organizations, and social service professionals.

“The reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act is long overdue,” said Congresswoman Shea-Porter.  “We must do more to stop violence against women. My hope is that this bill can pass the House in a bipartisan manner, like it passed in the Senate.”
