According to a report released this week by the non-partisan Tax Foundation, New Hampshire is home to the 3rd highest business taxes in the nation. No wonder we have so much trouble creating jobs and so many of our friends and neighbors are unemployed or underemployed.
This is a wakeup call for every state elected official who says that they are concerned about creating jobs in New Hampshire. We cannot create jobs by overburdening the job creators with taxes!
Earlier this year, Governor Hassan and the New Hampshire House tried to do just that. They proposed a budget that would have delayed business tax reductions, passed in 2012, that would have offered relief to small businesses from the business enterprise tax (BET) and from business losses. Thanks to your efforts and the New Hampshire Senate, they were NOT successful and their counterproductive and job-killing proposal was blocked.
But don't worry - big-spending proponents will be back and will attempt to raise more taxes off the backs of the hard-working business owners in this state.
It's time for our elected leaders to begin looking for ways to reduce taxes on our job creators, as opposed to trying to find new ways in increase spending by making New Hampshire even less competitive for businesses.
