Jeanne Shaheen's Spending Threatens Default
Shaheen/Obama Refuse to Responsibly Raise Debt Limit

President Obama, Senator Harry Reid and Co-Leader Chuck Schumer are demanding an increase to the federal debt limit without any spending reforms or cuts to begin to alleviate the massive debt burden Washington has created.  It is a position that 75% of Americans oppose according to a recent CBS poll.  But it’s no surprise. Jeanne Shaheen and her Democratic allies have been big spenders throughout their time in Washington and under their watch our debt has increased to an eye-popping $16.7 trillion.

But what does the debt mean for New Hampshire families?

  • Every New Hampshire Household’s Share Of The National Debt Has Increased $47,616 Since Jeanne Shaheen Went To Washington In 2009 – A 52% Increase In Just Five Years. (U.S. Treasury Website, www.treasurydirect.gov, Accessed 10/8/13; Census Bureau Website, www.census.gov, Accessed 9/30/13)

  • The Current Share Of The National Debt Per New Hampshire Household: $138,312. (U.S. Treasury Website, www.treasurydirect.gov, Accessed 10/8/13; Census Bureau Website, www.census.gov, Accessed 9/30/13)

“Under Jeanne Shaheen's watch New Hampshire families are left to foot the bill for nearly $48,000 in debt with no relief in sight," said NRSC Press Secretary Brook Hougesen. "Now, after recklessly maxing out the government credit card and handing the tab to our children and grandchildren, Jeanne Shaheen is refusing to responsibly act to raise the debt ceiling. Granite Staters deserve honest leaders who will work to solve problems, instead Jeanne Shaheen has blindly run up our tab without any intention of ever paying the bill."
