The Boston Globe Debuts the Broken City E-Book

The Boston Globe's exclusive Broken City series debuted as a new e-book today. The series, documenting Washington paralysis and dysfunction since March, will include:

  • 16 stories from the explorative series
  • Photos and graphics
  • A new essay from The Boston Globe Washington Bureau, explaining the reason for and importance of the series

The content from the book was inspired by a year unlike any other in national politics and addresses the deeper issues:

  • What was behind the gridlock?
  • Were there fundamental triggers that would grip the city in a partisan vice, again and again?

With these questions in mind, the Globe launched an ambitious assignment to tell the story behind the "Broken City."

  • The e-book is available at no cost for Boston Globe subscribers on
  • It is also available to nonsubscribers for $2.99 on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and will be available in the iTunes store next week.

And tune in Sunday, October 20 at 7:45 A.M. on C-SPAN to see reporter Matt Viser and Washington Bureau deputy chief Michael Kranish discuss the new e-book and their analysis of the recent political events.
