Out-of-Touch Lawmaker Votes to Exempt Herself From Unpopular Law
WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Monday night, Harry Reid and Senate Democrats like Jeanne Shaheen voted to keep their own special taxpayer-funded subsidy for ObamaCare. In other words, Jeanne Shaheen forced ObamaCare on middle-class families, forcing many to give up the doctors that they like and raising health care costs that are already too high. Now that Shaheen knows what a trainwreck ObamaCare is, she's fighting to keep her privileged exemption from ObamaCare.
More than 90% of Americans believe that Congress doesn't deserve special treatment from ObamaCare. If Democrats in Congress expect struggling middle-class workers and families to be subjected to this terrible law, it's only fair that they too should have to be subjected to it. Republicans have repeatedly tried to fund the federal government and to ensure fairness for all Americans on ObamaCare. Democrats like Jeanne Shaheen have decided that the law should only apply to some, which is simply unfair.
"Jeanne Shaheen thinks that she can exempt herself from ObamaCare while forcing it upon the people of her state," said Brook Hougesen, Press Secretary for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. "It's simply unfair that Democrats like Jeanne Shaheen who forced this law on the rest of us scheme for a special exemption from the ObamaCare trainwreck that they created. Democrats like Jeanne Shaheen are not only responsible for the dysfunction in Washington, but they are so out-of-touch that they believe they're entitled to special perks that the rest of us could only wish for."
