House Republican Conference - They Said It

House Republicans

Over the past week, multiple Democrats have indicated that they are more interested in playing politics than actually governing. If Democrats were truly concerned about reopening the government, they would come to the negotiating table instead of saying the following:

"We are winning...It doesn't really matter to us (how long the shutdown lasts)."

A senior Administration official told the Wall Street Journal. While Republicans work to fund the government, Democrats continue to play politics with Americans' lives.

"Why would we want to do that?"

Senator Harry Reid responding to a question from CNN's Dana Bash, on why he wouldn't vote to help one child with cancer. House Republicans continue to pass bills to reopen the government and provide funding for pediatric cancer research. Yet Senate Democrats refuse to even come to the table and negotiate reopening these vital functions of government.

"So when you were on a jihad against Americans’ access to health care, shutting down the parks wasn’t a problem.”

Representative George Miller (D-CA) said on the House floor. Democrats continue to use violent rhetoric in their attempts to demonize Republicans. Instead of name-calling and childish antics, Democrats should be working with Republicans to get back to the real issue of governance.
